MORRISVILLE, N.C.-TapRoot Systems Inc., which provides software for smart phones, said it has secured a second round of venture financing.
The round was led by Harbert Venture Partners and included participation from existing investors, including Intersouth Partners and Mid-Atlantic Venture Funds. Harbert’s Wayne Hunter will join TapRoot’s board of directors as part of the financing.
Funds will be used to expand the company’s product portfolio and to extend its offering to handset manufactures worldwide, said the company. The company’s software allows smart phones to communicate over both cellular and wireless local area networks.
