OYSTER BAY, N.Y.-The emerging wireless broadband platform WiBro will gain traction even beyond South Korea where it has garnered early favor, according to ABI Research.
In South Korea, KT and SK Telecom have been working to launch commercial WiBro services next year, and ABI said WiBro vendors and operators in the country are making faster progress than the WiMAX camp in terms of specification and market scale. ABI said the technology is being accepted as a potential global specification outside of South Korea, especially when it provides interoperability with IEEE 802.16e.
