Virgin Mobile Latin America reported a partnership with mobile virtual operator Datora to lauch a mobile virtual network operator in Brazil. According to VMLA, Datora is an investor and with its expertise will be instrumental in launching the MVNO.
In a statement, Virgin Group founder Richard Branson noted the partnership with Datora is a crucial step toward building MVNO operations in Brazil, where regulatory approval is dependent on an operator securing a partner.

Datora last year received a license to operate in Brazil, and is also partnering with Porto Seguro’s to launch MVNO services.
Argentina
Virgin Mobile said it plans to start MVNO operations in eight Latin American markets, with the next launch to be determined by regulatory approval and finding the right local partner, executives told RCR Wireless News.
Virgin Mobile Latin America said it expects within the next five years to become the leading MVNO provider in the region. Its first operation is set to start next month in Chile. In the second half of this year the company plans to launch an MVNO in Colombia, and has also received approvals in Mexico and Peru.
Despite recent buzz about a pending announcement for operations in Argentina, the company explained to RCR Wireless News that those plans have not been confirmed. “No agreements have been finalized, and this is not yet officially announced,” the company stated.
