LGS Innovations L.L.C., a U.S. subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent that serves the U.S. government, and Wavesat Inc. announced a collaboration agreement to develop 4G mobile device equipment and technology for private and public network applications. Wavesat will provide LGS with 4G silicon, software, reference designs and support for all User Equipment for LTE developed and implemented during the collaboration.
Icera Inc. and Teleca have partnered to develop an Android radio interface layer for Icera’s Expresso 4xx smartphone platform family based on Teleca’s Livanto ICE806x baseband chips.
Openet said a leading Indonesian telecommunications provider has deployed its Policy Management product to improve wireless broadband profitability. The Wi-Fi Alliance and the HomePlug Powerline Alliance entered a liaison agreement to promote the adoption of HomePlug powerline and Wi-Fi networking technologies in smart grid applications. The agreement allows cooperative efforts for joint technical review of Wi-Fi Alliance and HomePlug specifications and standards that facilitate interoperability in smart grid applications, said the groups.
Broadcaster Media General Inc. launched Harris Corp.‘s MPH ATSC Mobile DTV systems at its stations in Columbus, Ohio, and Tampa, Fla. The company said it plans to standardize on Harris’ equipment for all Media General TV stations launching ATSC Mobile DTV services in the future.
xG Technology Inc. and Western DataCom Inc. announced they have entered a contract that allows WDC to introduce xG’s xMax congnitive cellular modem systems as part of its existing ComCase tactical communications product line targeted at military and first responder markets. xG will receive royalties on a per-unit basis for products manufactured using xMAX technology.
SoundHound Inc. and HTC Corp. announced they have formed a partnership that calls for SoundHound’s music search and discovery application to be embedded in HTC’s Android handsets. Initial deployments will begin in Europe, with other markets planned for the future, said the companies.
Mobilicity deployed Scorecard Systems‘ Subscriber Analysis Application and Commission Manager solutions for the carrier’s 3.5G network, which it is expanding into Vancouver, Edmonton and Ottawa this month. The solutions provide subscriber reporting and commission calculation.
BilltoMobile announced an agreement with AT&T to provide its Direct Mobile Billing payment service to AT&T’s subscribers as part of a trial. The service allows customers to charge online purchases directly to their wireless account.
MogoTXT Inc. launched a mobile advertising solution powered by Sybase 365. The solution allows targeted advertisements into text messages written to fans by NFL, NBA, FIFA and MMA athletes who are subscribed to MogoTXT’s mobile and online service.
Openwave Systems said Bouygues Telecom has expanded its deployment of the company’s Openwave Traffic Management solution. The carrier originally deployed the solution last year to manage and optimize its network traffic. The expansion will allow Bouygues to manage its growing mobile data traffic.
