California Microwave Inc. has appointed Dennis Raney executive vice president and chief financial officer. Raney brings 26 years of broad financial experience, including international operations, financial planning, information systems and product introductions. He most recently served as CFO for General Magic Inc.
Preferred Networks Inc. has added John “Jack” Hurley, vice president of Glenayre Technologies Inc., to its board of directors. Hurley has been with Glenayre since 1988, when it was a broad-based Canadian manufacturing company.
American Portable Telecom Inc. has appointed Joe Griffin vice president of business development. Griffen will be responsible for identifying strategic opportunities for APT and enhancing APT’s range of wireless communications services. Prior to joining APT, Griffin held business development positions with General Magic Inc. and Visa International.
Gayle Bock is now vice president of marketing for the Aviation Communications Division of AT&T Wireless Services Inc. Bock most recently held positions as vice president of relationship marketing worldwide for Compaq Computer Corp., and director of marketing programs at United Airlines. In her new position, Bock will oversee all consumer and airline marketing activities, advertising and public relations.
American Mobile Satellite Corp. has named Randolf Piechocki vice president and general manager of the company’s Satellite Telephone Service division. Piechocki will be responsible for leading the marketing, operational support and program management initiatives of STS. He most recently served as president of TIE Systems Inc., a $100 million telecommunications company.
Denise Fortner Anderson and Gini Salvador have joined Toll Free Cellular as director of operations and manager of carrier relations, respectively. Anderson will lead implementation of Toll Free’s national intelligent network solution and its interfaces to wireless network operations by cellular and personal communications services partners. As manager of carrier relations, Salvador will develop relationships with cellular, PCS and other wireless service providers. Her primary focus will be on building market and regional-level partnerships nationally.
BellSouth Corp. announced Keith Cowan, a partner in the Atlanta law firm Alston & Bird, has been elected an officer of BellSouth and named vice president of corporate development. Cowan will be responsible for the execution and handling of merger and acquisition activities for BellSouth and its operating subsidiaries.
Andy Addis has joined TSR Paging Inc. as vice president of marketing. Addis joins the company from AT&T Corp. where he worked in the marketing/
new product development sector. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Kraft General Foods where he held various positions in brand management and new product development.
