DALLAS-A logo has been introduced by PrimeCo Personal Communications L.P. that the company intends to use later this year in 11 of its U.S. wireless markets.
The red image, done in what the company refers to as “free-hand style,” resembles the top half of a cellular phone and an antenna in transmission. It was created by Pentagram Design of New York. The PrimeCo name is in dark gray.
PrimeCo will use the logo to market its TalkAlong and PowerBand products, which it plans to introduce by the Christmas/Hanukkah season. The company sought a logo that would appeal to both average consumers and sophisticated users.
PrimeCo’s selection follows the recent introduction of other simple, circular-type logos, such as those from Lucent Technologies and Three-sixty Communications Co.
PrimeCo said research with consumer and business users indicates they thought the new logo indicated “simple, honest and friendly service; a bright idea; a company that cares about people.” The logo is eyecatching and says “Give me a try,” PrimeCo said. The red color offers a warm appeal, the company said.
“Our new logo illustrates a critical part of PrimeCo’s marketing philosophy: Make each experience the customer has with our services and employees a fresh, new benchmark for value, simplicity and innovation,” said Ben Scott, PrimeCo president and chief executive officer.
