Motorola Inc. has been contracted to build a Global System for Mobile communications network in the Czech Republic for operator Radiomobil. The deal is valued at $100 million. The network is scheduled to be launched in September to initially cover 65 percent of the population, with further buildout in the following 30 months that will bring coverage to 90 percent of the nation’s population. Motorola’s European Cellular Infrastructure Division will acquire sites and install equipment.
Motorola will provide base station equipment to interface with Siemens AG switching centers.
