STAMFORD, Conn.- Intelligent Information Inc., which provides financial, news, weather, traffic, sports and entertainment information to wireless users, is quickly expanding its business, as reflected in several recent announcements.
TCI (Tele-Communications Inc.) Media Service Cable Systems in the New York City area will start transmitting Intelligent’s sports and weather information to its customers through technology developed by Video Data Systems, said Intelligent. The reports will come in real time from VDS’ Sportscaster character generator in the form of a crawler-information displayed at the bottom of a television screen-said Intelligent.
The Stamford, Conn.-based company concurrently announced it entered a distribution agreement with Street Software Technology Inc. to enhance its portfolio of financial services with Street’s fixed income pricing services.
Initially, TCI will launch Intelligent’s service to about 370,000 of its subscribers in Westchester County and Long Island, N.Y., and northern New Jersey. VDS is an engineering and software company that designs character generators, the composite video computers that display text and graphics.
The agreement with Street will allow Intelligent’s customers to gain information about Treasury notes, bonds, bills and other financial information.
Intelligent’s information services also are accessible using alphanumeric pagers, personal digital assistants, laptop computers, wireless phones, PC cards and other wireless devices, said the company.
