WESTERN MULTIPLEX GETS FCC WAIVER ON RADIO PRODUCTS

BELMONT, Calif.-Western Multiplex Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Glenayre Technologies Inc., has received a waiver extension from the Federal Communications Commission. The waiver permits users of WMC spread spectrum radios to install and operate these radios without restriction to their system output power limits.

Glenayre said the waiver extension is significant to spread spectrum radio users as it results in the continued ability to implement long-distance license-free radio links up to about 50 miles using WMC’s LYNX spread spectrum radio products.

The waiver allows certain spread spectrum radios to be installed with high gain directional antennas without limitations to the resulting system gain and output power, said Glenayre. As a result, users can continue to use long-distance, high reliable, license free wireless communication links.
