Triden Telecom Inc. has signed a letter of intent to acquire Communitronics Inc., a paging company based in Mobile, Ala. Communitronics has 3,000 pagers in service and is expanding its coverage area by acquiring and building out more paging terminals, said Triden.

Denver-based ComTec International Inc. has signed a letter of intent with American Investment Services Inc., an Illinois corporation with offices nationwide, to underwrite a private placement offering of 1 million units of the company’s series B convertible preferred stock and common stock purchase warrants. The unit price is set at $5, said ComTec. The series B convertible preferred stock will have a 10 percent annual cumulative dividend payable in the form of the company’s common stock. ComTec said it will use the proceeds to finance the construction and buildout of specialized mobile radio systems during the next five years.

Celcore Inc. announced an agreement to supply its GlobalHub to Cellcom, a cellular operator based in Green Bay, Wis. Cellcom will use Motorola Inc.’s Personal Phone Series with Celcore’s GlobalHub to provide personal mobility services where one phone can be used at home, work or on the road with a single phone number-the cellular number. The PPS includes a personal base and a flip phone that functions as a cordless phone at home or work by using the landline network and automatically operates as a cellular phone when taken outside those ranges, said Celcore.

Campbell, Calif.-based P-Com Inc. announced it has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of Atlantic Communication Sciences Inc. ACS designs, manufactures and markets wireless communications products for high speed, digital communication links. Equipment provided by ACS is used in cellular and personal communications services networks for corporate and campus networks. P-Com said the acquired products will enable it to address worldwide unlicensed market applications including the domestic 2 GHz PCS relocations market. ACS will remain in Melbourne, Fla.

Teletouch Communications Inc. has completed the acquisition of Oklahoma Radio Systems, a privately owned paging company that provides about 30,500 pagers in Oklahoma. Teletouch said the acquisition complements its existing operations in east Texas and Arkansas. “This acquisition fits our strategy of increasing our regional coverage by acquiring paging companies in smaller metropolitan markets. In addition, Oklahoma Radio Systems is licensed for our primary paging frequency of 157.74 MHz and will provide immediate operating and marketing synergies for Teletouch,” said Robert McMurrey, chairman and chief executive officer of Teletouch. Teletouch provides paging services in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Tennessee.
