CHARLOTTE, N.C-Glenayre Technologies Inc. has formed three strategic market units as part of organizational changes being made to maintain responsiveness to expanding global markets, the company said.
The wireless messaging unit will continue to develop and manufacture paging and narrowband personal communications services systems and products. Jim Marion has been appointed president and general manager of the wireless messaging unit.
The voice systems division and the recently acquired CNET will join to form the integrated network group. Headed by Dan Case, this group will provide enhanced applications and systems support products to the enhanced service markets including cellular and PCS.
Glenayre’s wireless interconnect group will have responsibility for all microwave and radio telephony product sales to the wireless communications market. The group is led by Mike Gresham, formerly general manager of Western Multiplex.
“We have experienced a great deal of change over the last five years,” noted Gary B. Smith, president of Glenayre.
“Our compounded sales growth exceeds 33 percent and the company has added over 1,400 employees. Glenayre now has a significant worldwide presence and we must ensure that the company remains focused,” he said.
Other changes for the company include a new worldwide corporate sales function and a new operations and manufacturing group. In addition, a three-member team was formed to oversee development and implementation of corporate strategy.
“We are confident that these changes will allow Glenayre to continue to maximize our effectiveness, and position our company to capitalize on current and future opportunities,” said Smith.
