IRVINE, Calif.-SOS Wireless Communications Inc. will begin retailing its SOS Phone during the first quarter through Amway Corp., Sears’ Automotive Catalog and selected Sears stores and Montgomery Ward’s Signature Group Catalog. SOS also will distribute the phone through existing retail partners.
The SOS Phone is targeted at consumers who want a phone primarily for safety purposes. It has just three buttons that connect the caller to a 911 dispatcher, an emergency roadside service provider or an SOS operator who can connect the caller to one of 10 numbers chosen by the subscriber. SOS also is selling the phone nationwide through retailers such as Spiegel, Hammacher & Schlemmer and Comtrad Industries.
