SANTA CLARA, Calif.-Motorola Inc. will use Microtec’s VRTX real-time operating system, optimizing C and C++ compilers and XRAY debugger to speed development of the application software in Motorola’s Code Division Multiple Access telephone, model SC-720.
“The VRTXmc kernel significantly reduces RAM requirements resulting in lower power consumption and lower production costs as well as a reduction in the size of the final device, which is critical to the handheld market,” said Tony Barbagallo, vice president of marketing for Microtec.
Microtec said the C++ compiler and XRAY debugger reduce link and download times by eliminating duplicate debug information and improving compilation times by eliminating the C++-to-C translation process.
