SAN DIEGO-Sony/Qualcomm CDMA Sales, a division of Qualcomm Personal Electronics, will provide Code Division Multiple Access handsets to U S West Communications Inc. Sony/Qualcomm values the contract at $80 million.
The Qualcomm QCP-1900 and Sony CM-D600 personal communications services phones initially will be available in U S West’s Denver market during the second quarter, Qualcomm said.
The phones feature caller ID, short message service and voice mail alert.
Qualcomm Personal Electronics is a joint venture of Qualcomm Inc. and Sony Electronics Inc.
The San Diego-based company manufactures cellular and PCS phones, which are marketed through Sony/Qualcomm CDMA sales.
