CONSUMERS PREFER BUNDLED SERVICES

NEW YORK and CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-A majority of consumers prefer to purchase multiple or bundled communications services from a single company on a single bill, according to the results of a survey released by the Price Waterhouse Entertainment, Media and Communications Group and Kenan Systems Corp., a provider of billing, customer care and analysis software.

The survey also found that 61 percent of respondents believe a local or long-distance telephone company would best serve their home communications needs.

Of the 1,005 consumers polled for the survey, 55 percent said they would prefer to purchase local, long-distance and wireless telephone, cable and satellite television, Internet and other communications services from a single company, as opposed to 33 percent who would prefer multiple companies.

Sixty-nine percent of respondents said they would prefer to receive a single bill for multiple communications services, as opposed to 29 percent who would prefer separate bills for separate services.

Survey respondents also said that their home communications needs would best be served by a local (40 percent) or long-distance (21 percent) telephone company, as opposed to a satellite (7 percent) or cable (7 percent) television company.
