RAYTHEON TO STUDY PART OF LEO SYSTEM

GREENVILLE, Texas-Constellation Communications Inc. commissioned Raytheon E-Systems to perform a study for the ground segment of its low-earth-orbit satellite system.

Constellation placed a value on the contract of $300 million during the next three years.

However, an actual award of the ground segment contract has not yet been made, and an ultimate value is yet to be determined, the company said.

When an agreement on the ground segment is reached, Raytheon said it will work with Matra Marconi, which is Constellation’s space segment contractor, to develop integrated space and ground communications specifications for the LEO equatorial telecommunications system.
