NEW YORK-NEC Corp. announced China’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications awarded it a contract for a Synchronous Digital Hierarchy microwave system through the Chinese company Marubeni Corp.
The contract, valued at 4.5 billion yen, is for a 2,200 kilometer public communication line connecting six Chinese provinces via Beijing-Wuhan-Guangzhou by a 4 GHz, 155 Mbps SDH-based digital microwave system. The transmission capacity should equal some 32,000 telephone lines. Shipment is expected to be complete by June.
