AUGUSTA, Ga.-Powertel Inc. announced it has launched personal communications services in Augusta, Ga., and Aiken, S.C., based on Global System for Mobile communications technology.
The company said it now provides commercial PCS service to 21 cities in its 12-state license area, covering more than 7 million people in all. The new markets cover more than 400,000 people.
Powertel said it plans to launch operations in the Atlanta market by the end of the year.
