MOTOROLA TO SUPPLY EQUIPMENT TO CHINA

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc.’s Cellular Infrastructure Group announced it signed a $115 million contract with China Eastern Communications Co. Ltd. and Zhejiang Technical Import and Export Co. Ltd. to manufacture and supply digital cellular infrastructure equipment in China.

The contract marks the third such agreement for Global System for Mobile communications equipment among the three companies, under which Eastcom will manufacture and distribute Motorola’s latest GSM cell site equipment.

Also in China, Motorola won a $10 million contract to supply its new Rapid Deployment Vehicle wireless local loop system to the country’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. The RDV contains a network interface unit that provides local switching and connects directly into a landline network.
