INDIANAPOLIS-Brightpoint Inc. signed a letter of intent with Nokia Corp. and extended an alliance with L.M. Ericsson to distribute wireless phones in the United States.
Under terms of the agreement with Nokia, Brightpoint will become the sole authorized distributor of Nokia wireless phones in the United States. The companies said they expect to execute a binding definitive agreement before the end of the year.
Terms of the agreement extension with Ericsson, which lasts through 1999, call for Brightpoint to continue as Ericsson’s sole authorized distributor and logistics provider for cellular phones in secondary markets with indirect customers and to provide all fulfillment demands, said Brightpoint.
Brightpoint provides distribution and value-added logistics services to the wireless communications industry.
