SEOUL, South Korea-SK Telecom said it plans to install its InfoVision system in South Korean mass transit, which will give passengers news, weather, traffic, sports and business information from an on-board interactive screen.
An agreement signed with the Korea National Railroad will allow SK Telecom to begin installation of the InfoVision system on the Saemaul express train in January. The InfoVision screens will display real-time news, station information, train speed and major tourist sites on the express train’s route.
Following a two-month pilot test in sections of the trains on the Saemaul line, SK Telecom plans to install the InfoVision system in all 537 Saemaul cars, then on subways and in buses.
“While the pilot program for the InfoVision system will be implemented in Korea, we hope to bring this system to many countries around the world,” said Jung Uck Seo, president of SK Telecom.
