TYLER, Texas-Teletouch Communications Inc. has acquired the 158.10 MHz paging license for the Dallas/Fort Worth area from GTE Corp. for about $1 million, Teletouch announced.
“Teletouch already owns the 158.10 MHz license for markets in the east and central Texas ares,” said Robert McMurrey, chairman and chief executive officer of Teletouch. “We also have interconnection agreements on this frequency in San Antonio, Austin, Houston and the state of Louisiana.”
Teletouch provides paging services in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Tennessee. The company says it focuses on smaller metropolitan markets where it believes there is less competition and more opportunity for internal growth than in larger metropolitan areas.
