Australian telecommunications company Telstra, and Nokia Corp. signed an agreement to trial Nokia’s Terrestrial Trunked Radio system. The six-month trial will begin in Sydney this year and will represent the first multisite TETRA system outside of Europe, said Nokia.
The companies will jointly install and commission the system with Telstra providing the subsequent operation and management.
“The aim of the trial is to demonstrate the suitability of the digital trunking standard to key mobile radio communications customers,” said Daryll Smith, general manager of Telstra Mobile Satellite & Radio Services.
