TULSA, Okla.-SpaceCom Systems announced that Metamora Telephone Co. of Metamora, Ill., selected its digital FM Cubed transmission technology to offer paging services for the company’s customers.
SpaceCom, which provides satellite paging transmission for a number of the country’s largest paging carriers, said smaller paging operators like Metamora increasingly are adopting satellite technology.
The FM Cubed digital upgrade was developed because the paging industry’s growth has created a demand for a more robust system, said SpaceCom. Metamora chose SpaceCom’s satellite transmission technology because its customer base is spread throughout rural areas, in locations as far as 150 miles from the central office, said SpaceCom.
“Among the many advantages to making the switch to digital are a dramatic increase in signal quality because of an extra 3 dB of power, as well as compatibility with state-of-the-art paging control technologies,” said Robert Lindsey, director of paging network sales at SpaceCom. The upgrade includes Glenayre Technologies Inc.’s control equipment and repeater.
