DIGITAL MICROWAVE GAINS WINSTAR CONTRACTS

SAN JOSE, Calif.-Digital Microwave Corp. announced it received contracts from competitive local exchange carrier WinStar Communications Inc. valued at $2.8 million.

Shipments of Spectrum II and other digital microwave radios in varying capacities and frequencies of 18 GHz, 23 GHz and 38 GHz are scheduled for the first quarter of fiscal 1999.

The point-to-point radios contain a simple network management protocol interface. SNMP is a standards-based protocol designed to enable the exchange of management information between network devices, allowing network administrators to manage network performance more easily, Digital Microwave said.

The orders were placed as part of a three-year purchase agreement announced in September. Cumulative orders with WinStar since the signing of the agreement total $4.6 million.
