ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-U S West Communications Inc. said it experienced about a half dozen cases of vandalism in the Albuquerque, N.M., area last week, one of which affected paging service to a nearby hospital.
According to spokesman Jerry Brown, vandals cut phone lines used by several paging carriers in the area to provide paging service to the San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M., as well as to other doctors in the area. This is not the only vandalism reported by the company.
U S West workers across the country are on strike over a contract dispute. Brown would not speculate if the vandalism was strike related.
