ALASKA CO. GETS OK TO BUY CELLULAR PROVIDER

FOSTER CITY, Calif.-The Municipality of Anchorage in Alaska approved Alaska Communications Systems Inc.’s offer to acquire the operations of Anchorage Telephone Utility for $295 million cash.

ACS was formed by Fox Paine & Co. L.L.C. and a management team led by Charles E. Robinson. Alaska Telephone Utility provides local exchange and cellular telephone services, as well as wireless cable, Internet access and home security services through minority interests.
