NEW YORK-Electric Fuel Corp.’s consumer battery division introduced a new line of zinc-air
disposable batteries for L.M. Ericsson, Motorola Inc. and Nokia Corp. cellular phones.
The new line includes 2,900
mAh batteries for the Nokia 5100 and 6100 series, the Ericsson 300, 600 and 800 series and the Motorola MicroTac.
The line also includes an auxiliary 2,900 mAh battery for the Motorola StarTac series, and a 4,500 mAh ultra-capacity
model for the Motorola MicroTac series, said the company.
Electric Fuel noted its zinc-air batteries are recyclable
and do not contain volatile or toxic materials such as lithium or cadmium.
In related news, Wireless Solutions Inc., a
subsidiary company of Tessco Technologies, and the consumer battery division of Electric Fuel announced a three-year
battery distribution agreement that will allow Wireless Solutions to merchandise Electric Fuel’s new line of zinc-air
cellular phone batteries within the United States.
As part of the agreement, Wireless Solutions placed an initial
battery order, scheduled for delivery early in the second quarter. The zinc-air batteries initially will be sold through the
Wireless Solutions dealer network and offered to its key carrier customers as well, said Wireless Solutions.
