NASHUA, N.H.-Sanders, a Lockheed Martin Co., announced it entered into a long-term
agreement with WirelessNorth to supply its PCS-Over-Cable distributed antenna system to support the deployment of a
wireless network throughout the 13 basic trading areas covered by WirelessNorth’s personal communications services
licenses.
The PCS-Over-Cable system permits accelerated buildout of wireless PCS networks and improves
coverage and capacity of existing networks by using a hybrid fiber-coaxial network to distribute PCS signals, said
Sanders.
“With PCS-Over-Cable, we can cover the city for half the cost of a traditional build, with better
coverage and higher call capacity,” said Gary Howard, WirelessNorth’s engineering director.
The system
supports the Code Division Multiple Access protocol and serves as an alternative or complement to traditional tower
(macrocell) deployments, said the company.
