HELSINKI-Globe Telecom and Nokia Corp. said they have signed a $60 million contract for the
sixth phase of expansion of Globe Telecom’s Global System for Mobile communications-based Handyphone service.
Globe Telecom is the Philippine telecommunications venture of Ayala Corp. and Singapore Telecom
International.
Nokia said it will provide equipment, including base stations, base station controllers, mobile
switching centers and the Nokia Network Management system, to enhance Globe’s GSM 900 services and network
quality in metro Manila.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year, said Nokia.
