NEW ZEALAND TO AUCTION SPECTRUM

DENVER-The New Zealand government said it will begin auctioning spectrum within the 2 GHz
frequency bands March 29.

The Ministry of Commerce will auction 35 management rights and about 1,600 licenses
spanning the frequency range of 1710 MHz to 2300 MHz, which carriers can use to deploy different technologies,
including second-and third-generation cellular services, or personal communications services, as well as fixed linking
services.

The ministry said it will conduct the auction via the Internet. Bidders who purchase management rights in
the auction can make their own choices of services and technologies.
