NEW YORK-Millicom International Cellular S.A. said it is underwriting a $10 million capital
increase in Celcaribe S.A., its cellular operator in the northern region of Colombia, and purchasing an additional 2.5-
percent stake in Telefonica Celular de Bolivia S.A., its cellular operator in Bolivia, from a local partner.
MIC has a
32.5-percent interest in Celcaribe S.A. and after the capital increase, which will be completed in approximately eight
weeks, the company will own between 32.5 percent and 49.5 percent of Celcaribe’s shares, depending upon other
shareholders’ exercise of their pre-emptive rights.
MIC increased its shareholding in Telefonica Celular de Bolivia
from 97.5 percent to 100 percent, said the company.
