GORE HERALDS HIGH-TECH TAX CUTS

WASHINGTON-Vice President Gore last week promised high-tech tax cuts and increased information technology research funding as part of his official announced candidacy for president.

“I will craft these tax cuts specifically to help the small businesses and startups that are crucial to our high-tech future,” said Gore.

He also promised to double government funding for information technology research as president.

A bill is working its way through the GOP-led Congress that would make the R&D tax credit permanent.

Gore has come under fire from Republicans for championing Internet discounts for schools, libraries and health centers. The GOP calls it the `Gore tax’ because its shows up as a fee on consumers’ telecom bills.
