Alltel Corp. said it signed an integration agreement with Intecom Systems under which Alltel Information Systems will fully integrate Intecom’s applications into its customer-care and billing system to provide converged billing, complete billing analysis and full multimedia reporting functionality to the customers of communications companies.
CellStar Corp. signed an agreement to distribute original equipment manufacturer and aftermarket accessories to Chicago-based U.S. Cellular, said CellStar. CellStar said it will provide custom packaging and carrier-branded accessories and will distribute them to retail and distribution locations for U.S. Cellular.
ASC Billing Solutions Inc. said its Sentori billing and customer-care system has been selected by Carolina PCS I L.P. and will be deployed in the nine basic trading areas of South Carolina being served by Carolina PCS. The Sentori system offers client/server and Web-enriched features, including multilingual, multicurrency, flexible tax structures and service bureau over the Internet to support carriers worldwide. It enables quick deployment of new services and marketing promotions while providing system scalability and reliability, said ASC.
American Mobile Satellite Corp. has teamed with U.S. Wireless Data Inc. in a strategic initiative designed to integrate AMSC’s Ardis nationwide wireless data network with U.S. Wireless Data’s Wireless Express Payment Service point-of-sale technology. According to the companies, the combined solution will be able to authorize credit and debit card transactions in three to five seconds, compared with 15 to 20 seconds for most wireline solutions.
J.B. Hunt Tracking Services Inc. selected Vantage Tracking Solutions, a business unit of Orbcomm Global L.P., to provide Orbcomm trailer tracking services for its fleet of trailers and containers. The Vantage solution will enable J.B. Hunt to link vital trailer/container location and status data directly to J.B. Hunt’s fleet management system via Orbcomm’s low-earth-orbit satellite network, said Orbcomm. J.B. Hunt plans to begin installing the next phase of the Vantage tracking system this month.
