PCIA ANNOUNCES LEADERSHIP AWARDS

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-The Personal Communications Industry Association Foundation announced the winners of its 1999 Leadership Awards, to be held at a reception at PCS ’99 in New Orleans in September.

The awards recognize individuals and companies that have shown outstanding leadership in helping to improve their communities through the use of wireless communications and technologies.

The Chairman’s Award, which recognizes extraordinary service and contributions to the PCIA Foundation, goes to Ray Ardizzone, chairman of Glenayre Technologies Inc.

The Albert Gore Jr. LifePage Achievement Award is presented to a company that, through outstanding performance and dedication, exemplifies the LifePage program’s standards of leadership and service. LifePage provides free paging equipment and service to people on the official waiting list for critical organ transplants. The 1999 recipients are Sandy Cooper, Metrocall Inc.; Diane Lake, Paging Network Inc., Orlando, Fla.; and Lisa Larry, PageNet, Los Angeles.

The Distinguished Corporate Citizen Award recognizes an outstanding community service or outreach program that uses wireless technology. Aerial Communications Inc., Cincinnati Bell Wireless, Omnipoint Communications Inc., Samsung Telecommunications America and Sprint PCS all are winners this year.
