GLENAYRE WINS PAGING, MVP INT’L CONTRACTS

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Glenayre Technologies Inc. received two separate contracts for $16.5 million and $1 million to upgrade the nationwide paging network of the Long Distance and Mobile Business Group of ChungHwa Telecom, Taiwan’s national telecommunications company.

Under terms of the contract, the existing paging control terminals and radio-frequency control systems will be replaced with Glenayre’s GL-3000 wireless messaging switches and GL-C2000 series of RF controllers.

The updated infrastructure will offer LDM’s customers new services such as virtual paging, which allows a Global System for Mobile communications subscriber to receive pages over GSM short message service-enabled phones.

The project is scheduled to be completed in July, Glenayre said.

MVP platform

Glenayre also said Toronto carrier Norigen Communications Inc. has introduced an enhanced messaging services platform based on Glenayre’s MVP modular voice processing system.

The MVP platform is part of Glenayre’s Intelligis product family.
