KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Sprint PCS and Motorola Inc.’s Network Solutions Sector signed an agreement to begin a third-generation trial of Code Division Multiple Access digital wireless technology in the third quarter of next year, the companies announced.
The trial is meant to prove the advantages of 3G infrastructure-including high-speed data transmission rates up to 144 kilobits per second-increased voice capacity and other capabilities such as audio streaming and picture phones.
The network will meet the 3G 1X Radio Transmission Technology standard, the companies said.
