INDIANAPOLIS-Brightpoint Inc. announced it has joined the Wireless Application Protocol Forum as an associate member. According to Brightpoint, the membership demonstrates the company’s focus on providing contract manufacturing, fulfillment and other integrated logistics services to members of the WAP Forum.
The WAP Forum is an industry association that has developed a world standard for wireless information and telephony services on digital mobile phones and other wireless terminals. WAP Forum members represent more than 95 percent of the global handset market and brings companies from all segments of the wireless industry together to ensure product interoperability and growth of the wireless market.
Brightpoint, a service provider to network operators and equipment manufacturers in the global wireless telecommunications industry, joins such industry leaders as L.M. Ericsson, Nokia Corp., Motorola Inc. and Microsoft Corp. as a WAP Forum member.
