WETHERSFIELD, Conn.-Shared Technologies Cellular Inc. introduced CellEase 2000, an Internet-based system that will allow retailers to activate prepaid cards at point-of-sale terminals.
“What prompted our development of CellEase 2000 was the success of our prepaid cellular offering at retail outlets nationwide and industry statistics showing prepaid cellular as the electronics product choice all across America,” said Anthony D. Autorino, STC’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Our new magnetic-striped cards have no monetary value until they have been passed through the retailer’s point-of-sale activation system,” he added.
CellEase.com will be established as a wholly owned subsidiary of STC, effective Jan. 1, said the company.
