LAS VEGAS-RangeStar Wireless introduced a new embeddable Bluetooth antenna, about the size of a penny, suitable for a host of wireless applications. The antenna, the V-pol Omni, will enable users to connect wireless devices via wireless short-range radio links unimpeded by line-of-sight restrictions.
Bluetooth technology eliminates the need for proprietary connection cables increasing the ease and breadth of wireless connectivity.
According to RangeStar, the antenna has two advantages. It is small at 22.9 mm by 12.7 mm by .8 mm., allowing manufacturers to fit the antenna onto boards as if they were components. And the antenna provides a vertical pattern on a horizontal plane, meaning it can be placed horizontally within a device and still produce a vertical radiation pattern.
“Computer buyers today wouldn’t even consider purchasing a personal computer without a modem and cable connections,” said David McCartney, executive vice president for RangeStar. “Thanks to RangeStar’s vision and its unique `wireless cable’ antenna technology, Bluetooth capabilities now can become a standard feature in consumer electronics devices. Future computer buyers won’t think of buying a computer without Bluetooth capabilities.”
