PCS companies file merger proxy

BELLEVUE, Wash.-VoiceStream Wireless Corp., Omnipoint Corp. and Aerial Communications Inc. filed joint proxy materials with the Securities and Exchange Commission last week in connection with their planned merger.

All three companies will hold their special shareholders meeting Feb. 24 to vote on the merger. The meeting is for shareholders of record as of Jan. 17.

The companies are awaiting Federal Communications Commission approval to merge and believe they will receive approval for the merger between VoiceStream and Omnipoint by the end of February. Aerial’s reorganization approval, the companies believe, will come at the end of April.
