SAN DIEGO-PacketVideo Corp. will provide its PVPlayer MPEG-4 decoding software to NEC Corp. for a demonstration of high-quality, one-way video streaming capability on NEC’s video cell phone platform.
According to PacketVideo, the PVPlayer software displays media content, regardless of network speed or protocol, through a combination of standards-based video compression software and error resilience and concealment technology.
“With PVPlayer and NEC’s leading 3G technologies, we intend to accelerate the development and deployment of wireless multimedia products and services and to be the first to bring such products to market,” said Yoshi Tamura, department manager, digital communications development department, mobile communications division for NEC.
