Chadmoore Wireless Group Inc. reported more than 40,000 subscribers had signed up for the company’s wireless communications service as of March 31, an increase of 43 percent from the same period last year.
Cellular antenna systems provider Metawave Communications Corp. announced the initial public offering of 6.25 million shares of its common stock began trading on the Nasdaq last week at a price of $9 per share. Proceeds from the offering, underwritten by Merrill Lynch & Co., Salomon Smith Barney and U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, will be used for general corporate purposes, Metawave said.
SBA Communications Corp., a communications tower developer and owner, reported an agreement with TeleCorp PCS Inc. to provide up to 200 build-to-suit tower facilities covering TeleCorp’s domestic SunCom service area. TeleCorp will execute long-term leases to place its wireless network equipment at each site and pay SBA an initial monthly rental fee of $1,100 per site, according to SBA.
Boston Communications Group Inc. said it is exploring strategic business alternatives related to its Teleservices Division. The division provides customer service on behalf of wireless carriers, enabling them to outsource their customer care services for both their prepaid and postpaid programs. “The decision to explore strategic alternatives for our Teleservices Division reflects the company’s intention to focus its attention and resources on further improving our industry leading prepaid wireless business,” commented E.Y. Nextlink Communications Inc. declared a regular quarterly dividend on its 14-percent senior exchangeable redeemable preferred stock. The dividend is payable May 1 to shareholders of record April 15, Nextlink said.
