Hong Kong

Transcrypt International Inc. signed an agreement with Union Communications of Hong Kong for the exclusive distribution of all of Transcrypt’s voice security and signaling products in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Macau and China. Union will also have a warranty repair capability that will help reduce turnaround time for repairs in the region.

United Kingdom

Sontora Ltd. announced it has a limited number of places available for content providers in its MobiCast testing program. Developed to further integrate Wireless Application Protocol end users and content providers, MobiCast can pull audio feeds from a RealServer, Windows Media Services, or a streaming MP3 server and deliver them in real time to mobile handsets. Mexico

Mexico’s largest radio spectrum holder, Unefon, began offering mobile service in Mexico City and Leon, and it said it will offer mobile service in Acapulco and Toluca in addition to the fixed wireless service already available in those markets. The company said approximately 50 percent of the Mexico City market will be covered initially, with complete coverage expected by October.

China

Finnish company Yomi Media signed a cooperation agreement with Zhaodaola China Internet that allows Zhaodaola to offer mobile e-services to its customers in Greater China. Under the agreement, Zhaodaola Internet will co-market, develop and distribute Yomi Media’s Smartal products and services for the Internet and for wireless mobile services in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao. Yomi Media specializes in developing integrated e-business solutions for information technology, wireless communications and digital media. Smartal is a service portal connecting subscribers to a variety of short message service and Wireless Application Protocol-enabled mobile services.
