Sunday Communications
Sunday Communications Ltd. announced that Craig Ehrlich, currently group managing director and chief executive officer, will give up his CEO duties. He will continue as group managing director, focusing on the company’s regional expansion program. Ehrlich also will continue as the company’s principal officer in dealing with investors, analysts and regulatory matters. Fergus Wilmer will become Sunday’s CEO in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Sunday, Wilmer was CEO at Spice Telecom.
Cambridge Silicon Radio
Chris Ladas has joined Cambridge Silicon Radio as vice president of operations. Ladas will be responsible for all semiconductor foundry and subcontractor development, test floor production, test development and foundry process engineering, production control, quality and reliability, and customer service in his new position. Ladas was managing director and chairman of the board at National Semiconductor UK before joining CSR.
Ztango.com
John Harris, president and chief executive officer of Ztango.com, was appointed chairman of the board of the wireless Internet solutions provider. Ztango.com also announced that Rene Kern and Tom Tinsley have joined the board as members of General Atlantic Partners, the largest shareholder of Ztango.com. In addition the company noted that Mark Spagnolo, president and CEO of UUNET, has joined Ztango.com’s board.
Systemonic
Systemonic AG, a wireless communications chip company, appointed Karl Lange executive vice president of marketing and sales and acting chief executive officer, spearheading the company into the global, wireless office and home entertainment markets. Previously Lange headed Motorola Inc.’s European Millennium Ventures office, Motorola’s corporate investment arm.
Crown Castle International
Michael Schueppert was promoted to senior vice president of marketing and business development at Crown Castle International Corp. Schueppert was director of sales and marketing for Crown Castle UK prior to his promotion.
Murata Electronics
Jiro Miyazaki was promoted to vice president of marketing for Murata Electronics North America Inc., where he will be responsible for product marketing, segment marketing, geographic marketing and marketing systems. Miyazaki has held several general manager positions with Murata since 1985, most recently for sales and marketing in the western region of Japan.
ATIS
Ed Hall was hired as vice president of technology by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions. Hall joins ATIS after seven years of service at the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association as assistant vice president for technology and network operations, where he was responsible for organizing short-term technical working groups developing standards processes.
Verizon Wireless
Jeffrey Nelson accepted a position as executive director of corporate communications with Verizon Wireless. Nelson, currently in the communications department at the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association, is expected to start at Verizon in mid-July.
Cricket Communications
Cricket Communications Inc., a subsidiary of wireless communications carrier Leap Wireless International Inc., appointed Miles Johnson regional vice president. Johnson will oversee the rollout of Cricket’s flat-rate local wireless service in markets throughout the Southeastern United States from the company’s headquarters in Nashville, Tenn. Johnson served as regional vice president of Aerial Communications before joining Cricket.
InterDigital Communications
InterDigital Communications Corp.’s shareholders approved the election of D. Ridgely Bolgiano and Mark Gercenstein as directors of the company.
Tellabs
Anders Gustafsson was named vice president and general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Tellabs and will be responsible for operations and sales of all Tellabs products and services in the EMEA region. Prior to joining Tellabs, Gustafsson spent eight years with Motorola Inc. in various senior sales and GM positions within its cellular infrastructure business in Europe and Asia, most recently in its European Network Solutions Division.
InfoSpace
Rand Rosenberg was named chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance and corporate development at InfoSpace, a provider of communications, information and commerce infrastructure services for wireless devices. Rosenberg will be a member of InfoSpace’s executive team with responsibility for finance and corporate strategic planning. Prior to joining InfoSpace, Rosenberg was at Montgomery Securities, where he was the founder, senior managing director and partner of the firm’s telecom/media investment banking practices. Info-Space also appointed three executives in an attempt to extend the company’s market share in Europe, Asia and South America. Steven Shivers was promoted to managing director of Europe, where he is responsible for developing and executing InfoSpace’s European activities. Shivers led the company’s wireless and information appliance initiatives prior to his new position. Kumail Tyebjee was promoted to managing director of Asia, where he will oversee the development and execution of the InfoSpace’s Asian activities. Tyebjee was responsible for the business development efforts at Saraide, where he led its international development and relationships with more than 15 carriers worldwide. Kent Hellebust was promoted to senior vice president of wireless for North and South America where he will be responsible for InfoSpace’s wireless Internet activities. Prior to his promotion, Hellebust was responsible for negotiating agreements with various Vodafone global properties, as well as creating the relationship with InfoSpace’s exclusive Brazilian partner, Telesystem International Wireless Inc.
