TORONTO-Embedded Linux system software developer Lineo Inc. said it will combine its Embedix Linux software with Hitachi Semiconductor Inc.’s SuperH RISC processor, enabling manufacturers to develop devices and technologies for wireless handhelds and car information systems.
Lineo and Hitachi said the collaboration will jointly help manufacturers solve development issues including smaller software footprint, real-time software performance and lower cost.
“Hitachi knows that Linux by nature makes an excellent embedded software platform and Lineo is providing us the added value of speed to market and software features we’re looking for in an embedded software solution,” said Ali Sebt, vice president of product business units for Hitachi.
