MURRAY HILL, N.J.-Lucent Technologies Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard McGinn said he has begun searching for a chief operating officer for the company in light of its previously announced plans to spin off its enterprise and microelectronics businesses to focus on the broadband and mobile infrastructure market.
McGinn noted the move is designed to fundamentally change and compress the structure of its Service Provider Networks and corporate organization as they become one.
Patricia Russo, executive vice president and CEO of the Service Provider Networks group at Lucent, has decided to pursue other opportunities.
“As Lucent changes the structure of its business and the role of CEO of the service provider business goes away, I have decided that the time is right for me to pursue other opportunities outside of Lucent after assisting in a transition process,” commented Russo.
“I respect Pat’s decision and want to thank her for the tremendous contributions she has made to Lucent,” McGinn said. “She was a charter member of Lucent’s leadership team. Her unique insights, business experience and absolute commitment to customers were reflected in everything she did. We wish her well in this next phase of her career.”
