Winstar revenues grow 83 percent, losses up 63 percent

NEW YORK-Winstar Communications Inc. reported revenues for the second quarter ended June 30 of $176.3 million, an 82.7-percent increase from the $96.5 million in revenues reported for the same time in 1999.

The company said it recorded a net loss of $343.6 million, or $3.84 per share, compared with a net loss of $175.4 million, or $2.35 per share, for second-quarter 1999.

“Our strategic focus is the continued expansion of both our network and unique product set. … Continued execution will be even more important in the quarters ahead as we ramp up for the high-growth stage of our development,” said William Rouhana, chairman and chief executive.
