Ericsson, WorldCom to develop Internet services

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson announced plans to work with WorldCom’s UUNET Internet communications subsidiary to develop Internet services for mobile operators.

The companies plan to work together on new technology and product developments to meet Internet Protocol networking needs. Ericsson said it will support UUNET’s effort to provide a global roaming network for the GSM Association’s 400 mobile operator members. In addition, the companies will develop products for general packet radio service migration to all-IP networks, as well as perform WAP trials.
