POMPANO BEACH, Fla.-Air2Web Inc. and TheFirstNews.com are taking a technological step backward.
Instead of using cell phones’ increasingly detailed screen to provide information, the two companies plan to get their information across using the oldest form of communication-sound.
Wireless application service provider Air2Web and TheFirstNews.com, a media, streaming content and production-solution provider, plan to develop a preference-driven, audio-based wireless business news and information service.
The service will deliver summarized news stories and other information from TheFirstNews.com’s site to cell-phone users across the United States and in Canada.
The offering will allow users to personalize their service and receive headline messages on their cell phones. The users can then listen to the announcement.
“The addition of wireless audio delivery via digital cell phones will greatly augment TheFirstNews.com’s existing text and communication capabilities,” said Randy Selman, president and chief executive officer of Visual Data Corp., which owns TheFirstNews.com.
